Meet the business owner behind “Rent with Eden”

Kia ora! I’m Eden Parata, the proud founder of Rent with Eden. I established RWE to provide wāhine with the opportunity to rent beautiful dresses and garments at a fraction of the cost. As a young Māori wāhine forging my path, I’m passionate about igniting my entrepreneurial spirit and fostering a space where my clients not only look their best but feel their best.
Why a dress rental company? My love for renting dresses has been a constant over the years, from celebrating birthdays and attending parties to dressing up for date nights. This passion has only grown, and I initially wondered if a young Māori wāhine from Tauranga could truly make this dream a reality. Now, I embrace my identity as a Māori entrepreneur with pride, determined to build a community that is both inclusive and empowering.
Over the past year, this vision has been taking shape. Launching the RWE Instagram in June 2024 marked a pivotal step in my journey, holding me accountable for making the tough decisions needed to bring this dream to fruition.
Looking forward, I aim to enhance the RWE experience through personalised customer service and giveaways/discounts. Confidence in one’s appearance can transform every aspect of life. Although I am a designer business, I want to be a source of both style and affordability. Balancing my own journey as a young entrepreneur with the realities of the cost of living inspires me to create solutions that support our community's needs.
I’m committed to blending my passions with my cultural identity, collaborating with local and Māori-owned businesses along the way.
Ultimately, I aspire to open a storefront in Tauranga—a welcoming space where wāhine can explore, try on, and book from my collection.
Outside of RWE, I find solace in keeping up with fashion and pop-culture and spending time with my friends and whānau.
